Focus Group

The Focus Group is our quick response team to meet within minutes with a new contact or existing business.  Typically the group includes the Mayor of Newton, Chairman of the Jasper County Economic Development Committee, President of Jasper Jobs Inc., someone from the appropriate finance field, and Ken Larimore, Community and Economic Development Director.

Enterprise Zone Benefits

The specific Enterprise Zone sites have tremendous financial incentives for a developing business.  Depending on the businesses SIC code the real estate taxes and the Sales Tax (6.252%) can be abated.
 The process is quick and easy.  A one page application completed by the business can sometimes be approved on the spot.

Tax Increment Financing TIF

The TIF was established in 2008 and is a very valuable economic development tool.  The TIF complies with state code.  Additional information on TIF can be found at the TIF association website at:
